Lumens, lux, CCT, CRI, UGR, IP ratings — the language of lighting, explained in plain English.
Lumens (lm)
Total light output of a fixture.
Lux (lx)
Light landing on a surface — lumens per square metre.
CCT (K)
Colour temperature — warm (3000K) to cool (6500K) white.
CRI (Ra)
Colour Rendering Index — how truly colours appear under the light.
UGR
Unified Glare Rating — lower is more comfortable.
IP rating
Protection against dust and water ingress (e.g. IP65).
